There was a lot of miscommunication from HR and a lack of transparency and timeliness during the interview process. The HR team was responsive, but very unorganized. They forgot to add me to the system before my interview and I couldn't call up from the front desk.

For Bon Appetit/Epicurious, I had an initial phone screen with a recruiter. Then, there were three video interviews with different people involved. After that, I had an edit test. Everyone was really nice and engaging, and they even let me interview them back. It was a long process, but a pretty good one overall. They ended up choosing an internal candidate, which was a bummer. But, I did get some great feedback from the digital director at BA, which was the best part. She gave me all positive feedback, and I really appreciated her taking the time to respond, even though she didn't have to. I wish all my interviews were this positive.

I applied online and followed up multiple times. Had a phone interview with HR. After waiting another 2 months, I finally had a face-to-face interview with two top editors. One was very friendly, but the other was very tough. It all came down to my writing samples and, I think, my flexibility with pay. They are very careful not to promise much. The whole atmosphere was very quiet and not forthcoming.
