Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Compass Group.
Sales Manager
The hiring journey can be quite drawn out, usually involving 3-4 interviews. They also had me complete two online assessments to gauge my DISC profile and how I handle difficult situations. Additionally, I was required to create a 30-60-90 day plan to outline my proposed onboarding strategy. The overall hiring timeline really depends on their urgency, as employee turnover is pretty average.
- Can you describe past experiences where you faced a challenge?
- Tell me about a time in a previous role when a problem arose and explain how you managed it.
Sales Manager
Started with an initial phone chat with HR, then a personality assessment. After that, there was a phone interview with the Regional VP, followed by a face-to-face meeting with the VP. I also spoke with employees currently in the same role but covering different territories. The process also involved preparing a 30-60-90 Day Business Plan. Luckily, I was still employed during this time, as the company takes its time to thoroughly vet applicants. I made it to the final stage with just a few candidates left. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job. Still, I was really impressed with the company and what the other employees had to say, so I'd interview again if a job in my region opened up.
- Could you outline your strategy for identifying and targeting potential clients for this role, and what specific criteria and methods would you employ to determine their viability as customers?
- How do you assess if a potential client is a viable prospect for our services?
- What specific criteria would you base your assessment of a target customer's viability on?
Sales Manager
Given my prior experience as a Technical Director, where I sold technical consultancy services, and my achievements in the Education sector as a Director, my capabilities were already recognized by management. Therefore, this opportunity was more of a proposal than a response to a job opening.
- Can you discuss market sectors, geographic areas, and industry focuses?
- What are your thoughts on cross-references and joint venture opportunities with FM partners and international clients?
- How do you handle budgeting and forecasting?
