Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Community Health Network (Indiana).
Registered Nurse
I had an interview with the hiring manager and two other nurses from the unit. They asked some good questions that were directly related to the job on that unit. The other nurses were just as involved in the interview as the manager, and their feedback after my job shadow and interview was a really important part of their decision. It was a really professional but also pretty laid-back experience.
- If hired, what would you contribute to the team?
Registered Nurse
The process was more than frustrating. Initially, I was told I wasn't qualified for a new grad RN position despite having 17 years of clinical patient experience in mental health and laboratory. This was because my former manager gave me a negative reference, which she later apologized for as she didn't want me to leave. Then, HR thought I missed my interview and job shadow, but they actually confused me with another candidate. Finally, I was promised extra pay for my prior experience and education, but management denied it, stating it would cause conflict with other employees.
- Tell me about experiences you've had outside of healthcare.
Registered Nurse
The whole thing takes about 3 weeks. HR reaches out first. If they like you, management will contact you to set up interviews. Then you meet with the unit manager and potentially have a peer interview after that.
- How would you handle a conflict with a coworker?
