Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Risk Analyst
The interviewer was nice and the whole thing was pretty low stress. They asked about my schooling and any programming I've done. Having good communication, writing, and programming skills really helped. They seemed to care more about my math and stats background than finance knowledge or other stuff.
- Could you tell me about your educational background?
- Can you share some details about your programming experience?
Credit Risk Analyst
The interview was a 1-hour Teams call with two senior team members. It was a mix of behavioural and technical questions. They asked typical behavioural questions and some about motivation. There was also one brain-teaser type question that required you to explain your reasoning and predict a quantity.
- What drives your interest in CBA and the credit risk team?
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a difficult situation and how you managed it?
- What makes you want to apply for this position at our company?
Senior Risk Analyst
I applied internally and was selected for an interview. The questions asked were not related to the role at all. The manager was 10 minutes late and said three people would be on the panel, but only one showed up. I felt like the manager had already made the decision within the first 5 minutes.
