Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Graduate Student
The interview process included a video assessment and a group interview. During the group interview, we had a case study and then had to present it to the interviewers. We also had to answer questions. The case study direction changed in the last 5 minutes, requiring the whole group to quickly adjust our presentation. It was designed to test teamwork and individual abilities.
- What motivates your interest in joining CBA?
Graduate Trainee
The whole interview process was nice and went well. The person interviewing me was super friendly and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. They mostly asked about things on my resume and seemed genuinely interested in my background and past work, rather than throwing super technical or out-of-the-blue questions at me. They were helpful the whole way, offering guidance when I needed it, which made it feel more like a chat than a formal interview. All in all, it was a good and confidence-boosting experience.
- Could you elaborate on any prior experiences you have?
Graduate Program
The interview process was very straightforward and streamlined. It started with an online recorded interview that had more questions than usual, about 7 or more. After that, there was an assessment centre which involved two parts: a speed-friending style rotating interview where I spoke with 4 different people one-on-one, followed by the main assessment centre activity. We were given the topic for the assessment centre beforehand so we had time to prepare.
- Why are you interested in CBA?
- Could you describe your relevant experiences?
- What attracts you to this particular field of work?
