First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CommonSpirit Health.
Registered Nurse
The interview process involved a Zoom meeting with the new grad coordinator and the hiring managers for units you were interested in. After the interview, the new grad coordinator would call with an offer. Mountain Region doesn't hire directly into specific units; they hire into 'tracks' like acute care or critical care, and you get placed on a unit during orientation.
- Can you describe a disease process you know well, including its signs and symptoms, potential assessments, nursing interventions, and patient education?
Registered Nurse
So I interviewed with the manager, and honestly, the first thing that seemed off was she was half an hour late to our video call. She also didn't really go over what the next steps would be, like if I'd get the job or what to expect, although they did say they'd set up a tour so I could check out the unit. About a week later, I looked at my application status and it said I didn't get selected. A couple of days after that, the recruiter called to say the job was filled because my references hadn't responded. They mentioned I was still being considered though and that the position might open up again. A few weeks went by, and I followed up about that tour, and the recruiter said she'd talk to the manager and get back to me. It's been a month now, and I still haven't heard anything. Super unprofessional.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What about your weaknesses?
- They asked standard nursing questions, like what's typically asked in nurse interviews. For instance, they asked about my strengths and weaknesses, and also other common situational and behavioral questions.
Registered Nurse
Interview was long, I talked to the hiring manager, a coworker, the director, and HR, all at different times. They needed someone fast, so it was rushed and I had the exact experience they were looking for. I got the offer, but then they took it back saying they wanted to hire an American first, even though I don't need sponsorship. Most of my nursing background is in the US, but I trained in Canada. I'd never work for Common Spirit again because of the blatant discrimination from HR and how unprofessional they were.
- Regarding remote work, would you be alright with not having face-to-face interactions with patients and colleagues?
