I kind of gave up on this process after the interview in person. Initially I was called by a recruiter who tried to convince me that a salary well below my expectations was okay. It was fine at the top end of her range but she pressured me to go lower. In person was okay with the VP of the department. The person he brought in to do a BDI read from a paper. I didn't like that because she wasn't engaged. If I was going to be interacting with her I wanted a feel for her personality. So that was terrible and a big no for me.

I got in touch with the hiring manager directly for the role. First, I had a call with someone from HR to check if my salary expectations matched their budget and to go over the job details to see if I was interested. Since I was changing fields, this might not be standard for everyone. The next week, I had a 30-minute phone chat with the leader of the Strategic Consulting team. He asked about my current job, my reasons for a career change, and if I'd worked with clients before. A couple of weeks later, I went in for an in-person interview. I met with three managers from Strategic Consulting. The first one gave me a puzzle-like brain teaser and a case study about resolving territory disputes between sales agents and call center staff, asking how I'd make a decision, what steps I'd take, and how I'd present it. The other two interviews were just conversations. Afterwards, I had lunch with another analyst before leaving.

First, there was an initial call with HR to go over my resume and application, and then they set up the next round. Then, I had a live technical interview that was about 30 minutes long and had 5-10 questions. Finally, there was a behavioral interview that lasted about 45 minutes where we discussed my experience and interest in the position, and I got to ask them questions.
