Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Columbia Sportswear.
Software Engineer
The interview process had thoughtful questions and was a generally nice conversation. A few awkward moments occurred when they didn't seem to have the correct notes about my resume, but I would still rate the experience positively.
- Coding problems involving arrays and Java were asked.
- A significant number of behavioral analysis questions were posed.
Software Engineer
Had 6 interviews total which included behavioral, technical, and a presentation of a past project. Talked to people from the business side and the tech side, as well as managers. Felt like there were too many interviews overall.
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Can you tell me about a time you experienced conflict and how you handled it?
Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out, and I had an initial phone chat with them. They seemed to think I was a good fit and connected me with the hiring manager. The hiring manager interview is the main reason for this review. They seemed like they didn't want to be there and didn't try to understand my background. They just asked a bunch of 'Have you used X?' questions, and when I'd mention a similar tool, they'd just say they'd never heard of it. It was really unpleasant. I ended up just saying I had no questions so I could leave the call. Not someone I'd want to work for.
- Have you used Travis CI before?
