had one quick virtual interview, asked some basic questions about my background and interest in working there, and what I knew about the company and how the store operates.

Applied online and then the manager called me after a couple weeks to set up an interview. He was very to-the-point and not the friendliest. The interview was in the morning before customers arrived, and I was interviewed by 3 people: the manager and two other workers. The manager seemed unfriendly again. He liked that I brought my resume, even though I had no experience. I think he forgot who I was from the online application. They mostly asked behavioral questions ('what would you do if...') and I answered like anyone would, but the manager kept questioning me and acting like every situation at the place was awful and had no solution. He asked some weird questions sometimes, or twisted the questions after my response. The other two people were nice, but he just seemed very uptight about everything. Most of the girls working there seemed to be college students just a few years older than me. I didn't get the job because of experience, I think. I sort of expected it because the manager hinted at it. You should prepare questions on Glassdoor! Don't be discouraged, this is just my experience with one location. The manager seemed bothered that I wanted to work with kids because the store allows adults and the elderly to come in alone.

  • How do you feel about closing duties?
  • What would be your approach if a child became distracted or upset, while their father was nearby and their mother was occupied with finishing her pottery piece?

I got called right away and came in the next day for the interview. The interviewer was late, so I had to wait around and ended up painting a tile while waiting. About 30 minutes later, they took me to the back for the interview. It felt way too serious for what seemed like a simple job. They kept asking about my past customer service work, which was weird since I don't have any and my application clearly stated that. They also mentioned that my other experience wasn't relevant and they were really looking for someone with customer service or retail background. The interview went on for a long time.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me about your previous experience in customer service?
  • I'd like you to pick an item from your purse and try to sell it to me.
  • What would you do if a child finished their painting before their mom but the mom was still painting?
