First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coloplast.
Territory Manager
The interview process was really long. I had 7 interviews in total: one with a recruiter, two with a Regional Manager, another with a different Regional Manager, one with the Sales Director, and one with an HR Director. It felt like a lot of interviews, but I guess that's standard for this kind of role.
- What did you learn about the role and the company from your research?
- Have you contacted anyone at the company yet?
Territory Manager
It was a long 4 week interview process. Started with a recruiter, then I had repetitive phone calls with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM). The RSM seemed really nervous about making the hiring decision and kept having the recruiter reach out for more questions. I had to take a computer exam that included personality questions and a SAT-like math/English section, which took a few hours. Then, there were two scheduled ride-alongs. The first was out of state, involving a 3-hour drive just to listen to friends chat, not about the job or product. The second ride-along was spent in a lobby over coffee while the person I was supposed to meet mostly talked about themselves and ignored me. After that, I met with another rep from a different territory who needed to approve me for the RSM. Following all that, I had a one-day trip to the corporate office for interviews with 3 upper management people. I was supposed to have a detailed 'brag box' for each, but they didn't even look at it. The final interview was with a cocky guy who asked strange questions like 'how many windows are in Minneapolis?' or 'how many golf balls fit in a school bus?' to seem powerful. He said these questions were to gauge my thought process. Then he told me the base salary was $10k less than I'd been told by everyone else. I told him that was wrong or I wouldn't have bothered. He said he'd have an answer next week. Unbelievable! As I was heading to the airport to fly home, the RSM called to offer me the job. That really showed me what kind of company this was.
- Which state would you annex, and what's your reasoning?
- Estimate the number of golf balls that would fit inside a school bus.
- What is the total number of windows in the city of Minneapolis, MN?
Territory Manager
The process began with a recruiter call from Chase, who were very positive about the Territory Manager role and stressed the importance of Coloplast's culture and values. Between recruiters, I had a chance to ask questions about the company and got a good sense of the likely interview process. After deciding to proceed, the next step was a digital interview, which involved recording filmed answers to about 6 questions within a time limit, along with various online tests. This was followed by an in-person interview with my future boss and a senior colleague. The final stage was an assessment centre that included a role play, a competency-based interview, and a business plan presentation. Throughout the whole experience, everyone I interacted with was professional and accommodating. Logistically, tasks and interview dates were provided with ample time for preparation, which was very helpful. The people at Coloplast are superb, from senior management to my colleagues; they are helpful and eager to tackle business challenges together. Coloplast is a great organization with a strong culture, and I'd readily recommend it.
- How do you feel about Coloplast's values, and can you share examples from your career where you've embodied them?
