First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Collins Aerospace.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
It was an on-campus placement. First, there was an online assessment with multiple-choice questions on electrical/electronics, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude. After that, I had a technical interview where they asked about my projects, microcontroller knowledge, analog electronics, and digital electronics. Finally, there was an HR round where they inquired about my family background, strengths, and weaknesses. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected.
- Could you elaborate on your projects?
- What is your understanding of microcontrollers?
- Can you discuss analog electronics?

So there was this aptitude test on 20/10/21, it was MCQ with 60 questions in 60 mins, pretty easy to medium difficulty. It was AI proctored and was an elimination round. Then on 22/10/21, I had a technical interview, one on one, all about my domain. They asked stuff about my internship, projects, and favourite subjects, and it lasted about 45 minutes. Right after that on the same day, I had an HR interview, also one on one, focused on personality. They asked about my family, how I handle things, my extracurriculars, and if I'm willing to work. This one was about 40 minutes. Finally, on 23/10/21, the results came out and I was selected. Just a tip, it's really good if you have projects, clubs, or internships related to automobile, aerospace, drones, mechatronics, or robotics.
- What did you learn from your internship experience?
- Could you describe your specific role during the internship?
- How does your internship experience connect with the requirements of this role?
Graduate Engineer
I went through a one-day assessment centre. It included a group task where we had to rank items for a moon walk, a presentation about myself and an actuated design PDR. It was disappointing that Collins didn't inform me about not getting the job after the assessment centre, especially since they said I'd get feedback within two weeks. My attempts to get feedback were ignored, which felt unprofessional.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you present on an actuated design PDR?
- What technical knowledge do you have about engineering drawings?
