The manager was friendly and the interview didn't have too many technical questions, it was pretty easy. The office has a great view and is conveniently located near the rocks. The process involved one phone call and then two interviews with the line manager and the finance boss.

I had an HR screening for the first round. I didn't get selected for a second round and didn't get any explanation. The HR person seemed unhappy with their job, making the screening call unpleasant. It felt like a machine was asking questions instead of a person, with no small talk.

Found the job posting on Craigslist. First meeting was an interview, followed by a basic accounting skills test (you can use a calculator). If you know the accounting equation, how to make journal entries, and basic accounting principles like prior period adjustments, accrual vs. cash based accounting, and general ledger, you should be fine. It seemed like how well you do on the test impacts the difficulty of the portfolio they give you. The second interview is easier - usually lunch with staff for a casual chat where they check your personality. The people, office, and culture seem nice. The most important qualities they look for are: 1. Being pleasant and easy to get along with (always), 2. Making important connections, 3. Knowing how to talk to executives (following the chain of command), 4. Understanding the relationships between executives/staff (Asian and Hawaiian culture has a big influence).
