First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Colgate-Palmolive.
Senior Scientist
Applied online. About 3 weeks later an HR emailed me to set up a phone interview. Two weeks after that she contacted me back to set up a video interview with the hiring manager. Then a couple of weeks later was told they filled the position. One great thing about the process was the HR would respond and let me know about the next step and let me know if I am selected.
- Tell me about yourself.
Scientist
The interview was very impersonal. Interviewers read behavioral STAR questions from a packet and typed or wrote down my answers. Even when I explained the results, they asked again what the result was. They seemed nice and I wanted the job, but they were so focused on writing that I couldn't connect and felt uncomfortable, like I was only being tested. They never got back to me after I emailed, even though they said they would. I find it rude and unprofessional when companies can schedule an interview easily but then don't care to follow up, leaving you hanging. I wish HR and interviewers treated people like people, not test subjects.
- Describe a situation where you had to change your approach to solve a problem.
- Share an experience of a conflict with a team member and how you resolved it.
- What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
Microbiologist
I applied through LinkedIn and about a week later, Colgate emailed me saying I was selected for an interview with HR. The interview was the following week. They asked about my teamwork, time management, and why I wanted to work at Colgate. The interviewer also asked one simple question in English. Overall, the HR interview was relaxed, and the interviewer was very friendly. She told me I passed to the next stage. The next interview was the following week with the Compliance Lead and the Microbiology Coordinator. This interview was more technical, covering my experience with analyses, culture media, environmental monitoring, and working under pressure. All interviews were remote. The next phase would be a hands-on English skills test in person at Colgate in São Bernardo do Campo, and there might be a final interview with another leader.
- How do you manage your time? How do you organize yourself?
- Why Colgate?
- What analyses do you perform?
