My interview with Coldwater Creek was really unprofessional. I had a great first interview with the Store Manager and was told I was one of two finalists for the Assistant Manager role, with the other being an internal candidate. I was supposed to hear back by a certain date to set up a second interview with the District Manager. I didn't hear anything by the date, so I called a few times. Both times, I was told the Store Manager wasn't in and a message would be left. After a week of no contact about scheduling the second interview, it seemed like they decided to promote internally, which is fine, but they really mishandled how they treated me as an external candidate.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had two pre-screen phone calls, then was flown out for interviews. The process is typical for companies that relocate candidates. You meet with 5-10 people, either in a room where interviewers cycle in and out, or by office hopping. I met with about 9 people one-by-one. It went well until the hiring manager, who seemed uninterested and spoke about herself. We interviewed over lunch, and she wore sunglasses despite the sun being behind her. She was rude and overbearing. Three more interviews were added last minute, followed by a project. I didn't really want the initial role but took it since a preferred opportunity was on hold. After a two-week wait, HR confirmed I didn't get the offer. This was in 2008. A few months later, a suitable role opened up, and that's when I started.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was a good experience and very professional. People dressed casually. I spoke with four different people, which was okay, but when they all asked basically the same questions, it got a bit discouraging by the last one, making me wonder about their organization and communication skills. I did get the job offer in the end, but I never found out who made the final decision.

The hiring process included a review of academic background and professional experience, focusing on past roles and responsibilities. They asked about results, vision, values, and strategies, as well as any potential improvements or proposals. There were also questions regarding the company, my interest in the role, and salary expectations. The hiring process itself was clear.
