The interview process was long, involving a cognitive and behavioral assessment, a recruiter screen, multiple interviews with the business, and finally a work trial. Even though there were many steps, the interview process itself moved quickly. They had a solid process for scheduling the interviews, so there wasn’t a lot of back and forth to coordinate.

The interview process at Coinbase was a good experience because the recruiting team was fast and gave feedback quickly. First, there was a recruiter screen with basic questions about my background, the role, and compensation. Compensation is fixed based on location, role, and team but is competitive. The next round involved back-to-back interviews with the hiring manager and team lead, focusing on my background and behavioral questions. A week later, I had virtual onsite interviews with team members, which were mostly behavioral and about applying my experience to crypto. One of these included a short, unannounced live coding exercise with basic questions. The final stage was a recorded presentation for all previous interviewers, plus a separate writing assignment. That same day, I received a verbal offer and discussed compensation, benefits, and perks. Before the written offer, I provided two business references, which were followed up on. The written offer was valid for only three days. The recruiter was always available to answer questions. Overall, the process was smooth, with relevant questions and topics. They focused on adaptability to crypto rather than prior experience. Despite the number of rounds and assignments, it moved quickly, and they were flexible with preparation time.

Applied for one role, but after the first interview, they told me I wasn't a fit but another role might be. The recruiter from that team called the next morning for a quick phone interview. Then I had another easy interview. After that, I had to take this crazy online test called COINSights, full of super technical questions about SAFe v5.1 project management, which was totally unrelated to the job. I guess I passed. Then I had two more interviews. The first was super early at 5:30am and only lasted 15 minutes because the interviewer didn't have questions. The next day, the other interview was tough, all about crypto specifics. Passed that too. After all these interviews and a screening, they said I passed everything and scheduled a final panel interview for a week later. But on the morning of that final interview, I got an email saying they found someone "ideal" and canceled my interview. I asked for feedback since another role might open up, and the recruiter said he'd call later to debrief, but I haven't heard anything in two weeks. Communication was good most of the time and people were nice, but after almost six weeks of scheduling, work, early mornings, and studying, it feels like I got screwed out of a final interview before they made a decision.
