First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cohen & Company.
Tax Intern
I did an automated video interview with about 12-15 questions. You had 1 minute to read them and 2 minutes to answer each. Then, I had a second interview that was about 30 minutes long with 2 staff members. It was pretty standard, except for one odd question.
- What would you do if you found a penguin in a locked closet?
Accountant
It was very Conversational and easy. Nothing technical. Interviewed by Senior and Manager. It was very Conversational and easy. Nothing technical. Interviewed by Senior and Manager. It was very Conversational and easy. Nothing technical. Interviewed by Senior and Manager.
- What made you decide to join Cohen?
Consultant
The interview process at Cohen was dysfunctional from the start. My first round with the Partner was a no-show, requiring rescheduling. In the second interview, he was 20 minutes late. I then had 4 more rounds to determine team fit, with several interviewers, including Senior Leadership, being late and unprofessional. The company then falsely claimed they needed a presence in my location, which the team I would join did not have. The HR person then did a bait-and-switch on the offer, saying they weren't hiring for my location. This 6-round process was a waste of time. I don't recommend this company.
- Walk me through your previous job experiences.
- Could you provide some examples of your behavior in certain situations?
Audit Associate
Got the interview scheduled through campus. We were all grouped together in a room playing games while waiting for our turn to interview. I interviewed with two people. Before we left, we all had to give an elevator speech to the interviewers. It was a pretty standard process overall, but it was a bit weird how much HR cared if I was going to take a Big 4 offer.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a specific type of event?
- What motivates your interest in Cohen & Company?
