I passed the initial coding test and then had a live-coding technical interview. I solved both problems quickly using my own logic, employing two different data structures and stream structures without external help. My algorithms had low complexities. They asked how to refactor if-else blocks, and I suggested using stream filters. I have about two years of experience as a software developer. I tried to get feedback on areas for improvement but didn't get a detailed explanation for why I was eliminated, which is disappointing as I don't feel my experience was insufficient.

So I had a really good interview experience at Cognite, even though I didn't get an offer in the end. My interview process started with a chat with 2 engineers. Then, there was a task-solving interview with 1 engineer. After that, I had several on-site interviews, including with the CTO and some team engineers. In the first interview, the Cognite engineers told me about the company and what they do. They asked me to walk them through each role on my CV and threw in some general questions about cloud tech and testing. We finished that with a quick coding task. The second interview was focused on a coding task, which was challenging but definitely doable. After I finished it, we talked about how I could make my code better and how I'd manage if my solution had to process a lot of data. Following that, they invited me for the on-site interviews at their office. I had a coding interview with a team lead and then both technical and behavioral interviews with the CTO. I also had some coffee breaks with team members.

So I interviewed for a Senior Full Stack Engineer Atlas AI role at Cognite. The interviewers were really nice and made it feel comfortable. They said it would be 90 minutes about system design and app dev, but it was actually only 60 minutes and a LeetCode coding problem. I prepped for the wrong thing, which was a bit of a surprise. They ended up going with other folks for the role, which is fine, and they let me know quickly. I wish they'd given me more specific feedback though.
