Cyber Security Analyst
The interview was conducted via Zoom and lasted less than 30 minutes with two interviewers. I believe I was asked about five questions in total.
- Can you name some common hashing algorithms used for emails?
Threat Analyst
I have some experience in email threat analysis. I made it through all 3 interviews (HR, manager, and director). By the time I got to the director's interview, I was able to answer all of his questions, but got feedback later that I was rejected. I found out through a friend of a friend that they chose to hire someone without prior experience in email threat analysis.
- Could you tell me about your experience with email threat analysis, including the processes and tools involved?
Information Security Analyst
So I applied and they emailed back saying the role was filled, but then they reached out again a couple months later for another opening. First, I had a quick HR phone interview, then another chat with the manager I'd be reporting to. Both folks explained their take on the job. After that, I went into the office for another interview with the same manager, and they gave me a tour. The final interview was a phone call with the director. It was mostly about seeing if I'd fit the company culture and my personality, not so much about my technical skills. The in-person meeting was mainly a long talk about the job and how I'd fit in. They're big on honesty, commitment to growing with the company, and showing you're willing to learn. I ended up declining the offer because it was fully remote with an option for a couple of days in an office that was a really long drive. Coming from a big team, I felt it would be too isolating for a role with a learning curve, where I'd need to be around people to help me learn and grow.
- Can you describe your experience and skills with Excel and data analysis?
- What's your background and proficiency in cybersecurity?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
