First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cofense.
Sales Associate
The process started with a screening, then a hiring manager interview. After that, there was a second interview with another department head, followed by a peer interview. The recruiter was great at communicating throughout the whole thing. The only hiccup was the background check; it took a really long time, and the company doing it kept bothering me for the same information over and over.
- Can you share your experience in developing new processes from the ground up?
Data Analyst
The hiring process was really quick. I applied late in the week and heard back the next Monday to schedule an interview. My first chat was with the recruiter via Microsoft Teams, where they asked about my background and gave me the lowdown on the job. It was super short, under 15 minutes. About an hour later, I got an invite for a second interview, which was the next day with the Data team manager. This one was longer, 30-40 minutes. The manager looked over my GitHub projects, talked about the skills on my resume, and what the day-to-day would be like. They said I'd get an email about next steps soon. I figured it'd be within a few days because everything else was so fast, but it's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything. The job isn't even posted anymore.
- Could you describe your background in relation to this role, including your education and work experience?
- Please walk me through your GitHub projects, detailing the Python packages you utilized and the key insights you gained from them.
- What is your level of experience with SQL?
Systems Engineer
Applied in early December, recruiter reached out 3 weeks later for a 30-min phone call. It went well and a Zoom interview was scheduled with the hiring manager. That interview didn't have technical questions, those were for a later panel interview with the team. The hiring manager asked about my past experience, career goals, and reasons for leaving my current role. I noticed the role had been open since October and asked why it was taking so long to fill. The manager mentioned interviewing about 50 candidates without finding the right fit, explaining that offers were made but candidates weren't vaccinated, which was a requirement. The recruiter wanted to schedule more interviews, but I declined, feeling uneasy about the long hiring process.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What are your career aspirations?

Client Success Engineer
I applied and heard back from a recruiter after 3 days. We set up a 20-30 minute phone call for the next week. The recruiter went over my background, resume, and asked about my desired skills for the job. They thought I was a good fit and passed me along to the next round. A few days later, I had a call with a team member to discuss the role, my experience, expectations, etc. They also thought I'd be a good fit. Then the recruiter set up one more interview with the CS team. This was a video call with the Director and five team members. We talked about the team's role and the company, and they asked relevant questions. It went well and felt comfortable. A few days after that, the recruiter called with a job offer. The recruiter kept me updated throughout the process.
- Can you explain your understanding of client success?
