First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cobb County School District.
Financial Accountant
Got contacted by the company for a phone call, and they set up an interview for the same week. I met with three people from the finance department, and they were all really nice. I heard back within a week. First, I got an automated email saying the job was filled, and then one of the interviewers sent me a personal email explaining that they decided to promote someone who was already working there.
- Can you tell me about your experience processing month-end and year-end closeouts?
Middle School Teacher
To start, you'll need to fill out an online profile. You can find and apply for jobs directly on the CCSD website. After applying, you might get called in for an interview. When it's time for the interview, you'll meet with the administrative team. Sometimes it's just the principal, other times it's the principal and an assistant principal. There aren't any follow-up interviews, just the one. It seems like references are pretty important though.
- Could you describe what a visitor would observe upon entering your classroom?
- How do you incorporate data into your practice?
- Please explain how you engage with your professional learning community (also known as CCC).
Teacher
I applied online using the Cobb County Star System. A lot of jobs on Star are not real positions. School administrators have to post open teaching jobs but don't have to consider the Star applications. They usually hire people they know or who were recommended. I had to email the principal and assistant principal my resume for any position I was interested in. The entire process took one day. The interview was a panel with the principal, assistant principal, and grade level teachers. Everyone asked questions. The principal asked me to bring a portfolio, and they kept it!
- Can you describe a challenging situation you faced and how you resolved it?
- How would you describe your approach to classroom management?
Paraprofessional
I applied on the County's website and then got an email with an interview date. The interview was with the Assistant Principal and another administrator at the school. They asked me questions about my experience and qualifications for the job, and we talked about the position's requirements and expectations.
- Could you tell me how you would describe yourself?
