First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coal India.
Financial Analyst
It was a pretty straightforward interview process, and I think it's manageable. However, you do need to pass the government exams first to get through. I was an intern there, and honestly, the work environment wasn't the best, but it was okay.
- Tell me about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, and what your long-term goals are.
Management Trainee
The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a phone screen. Questions covered my background, project work from my MBA, reasons for applying to Coal India, and my opinion on the organization. I was also asked about my intent to leave within 6 months and the working environment of my previous appointment.
- Could you elaborate on your previous job and profile?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Walk me through your work experience.
Electrical Engineer
The interview process was good. They only asked basic questions. There were ten panel members. It started with an introduction and then basic HR questions. After that, it was all technical, just to check if you know the basics. The panel was friendly, talked very nicely and were supportive.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What do you know about machines?
- Can you explain power systems?
Environment Management Trainee
The process was pretty straightforward. No online exam, but there's a GPA requirement that changes based on category. We had a Group Discussion on 'How CIL can contribute to India's Paris Commitments?', and based on that, some students moved to the Technical round. There were no other rounds after this.
- Regarding joining the world's most polluted coal company, why do you want to do so?
- Do you have any plans for further studies?
- Which subject do you like the most?
