First, a recruiter called to check if I was free for an interview. Then, the final round was a panel interview with two people who asked me about my previous work experience, the work culture, and Co-op's values. I got the offer about a week later.

Behavioral Presentation

It was a long process with many hoops to jump through. Ultimately, I was interviewed by three people who seemed to have very little interview experience. They followed a script, asking one question each. Honestly, none of them seemed to have the authority to make the final decision for this role. I later found out, as they made a point of being open about feedback, that I didn't get the job because A) the interview took too long, B) I gave too much information, and C) when I described disciplining someone, I used the pronoun 'he'. They suggested I should have used 'staff member' instead of 'he', saying it was inappropriate. They actually praised everything else about my interview – my experience, my demeanor, my attention to detail, and my presentation (calling it thorough, well-presented, and well-thought-out). But my use of the male pronoun made me unsuitable! The company was founded on good principles, but I fear the current climate leads some to push the 'inclusive agenda' to the point where it's not inclusive at all. As a middle-aged male who doesn't 'tick enough boxes', my application was a waste of time. Although, on the other hand, I feel like I dodged a bullet!
