I applied online and got an email to set up a 20-30 minute phone interview, which ended up being 30 minutes. After passing that, I was asked to come in for a 1-on-1 interview at the store about a week later. I drove 40 minutes to get there. The interview was supposed to be with an Area Manager, but a Store Manager interviewed me with a note-taker. The interview focused on competency, behavioural, team management, leadership, and company business. It lasted an hour and started immediately, which was a bit abrupt. I was supposed to show proof of the right to work, but they didn't ask for it until I was about to leave. It felt like they were just going through the motions. They said I'd hear back in 2 days, but I had to wait 5 days, then another 2 days, and then weeks went by with no feedback, even after I asked a couple of times. It was frustrating after putting in so much effort and feeling like I did well, but there was no outcome or even feedback.

Had a pretty straightforward online part, then a phone call that was set up ahead of time. The phone interview felt pretty casual and they gave me a clear idea of what happens next and the timelines. After that, it was the assessment centre, which was really well done. The interviewers seemed genuinely interested, and I felt very comfortable because of the informal chats throughout. They were really clear about the next steps and when decisions would be made. Honestly, it was the best-organized assessment centre I've been to, with really enthusiastic and genuine recruiters.

The hiring process took months and had very poor communication. They gave me the wrong dates for an assessment and then the wrong time on the email confirmation. I was expected to travel at my own cost. It took them 3 months to give me a final reply, and I already knew the position had been given to an internal candidate from the store staff I applied for before the assessment day. I knew it was pointless but went anyway. They were dishonest about vacancies. Do yourself a favor and check if the store you're applying for doesn't already have a new manager in it. Just as an extra, every single person at the assessment day was male, including all the ops managers and assessors. I think they need to review this!
