Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Co-op.
Shop Assistant
The interviewer was really lovely, and I was interviewed in the shop's office. There was a set structure of questions, and I needed to have some prior knowledge about the history of the co-op. Some questions required me to assess a given situation presented by the interviewer and explain how I would respond.
- What is your ultimate career aspiration?
Store Associate
The interview process was straightforward. They provided the questions in advance, allowing for preparation. Initially, they asked some questions about me, followed by the interview questions, and then inquired about my availability. I received an offer a few days later.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated effectively within a team?
Store Assistant
It was a straightforward interview. I met a staff member and was taken to the staff room to wait for the manager. The manager introduced himself and we made small talk while he got set up. We started with general questions like 'tell me about yourself,' 'what do you know about Co-Op,' and 'why do you want to work for Co-Op.' Then we moved on to about 5 specific scenario questions. He took notes throughout, marking against criteria. We wrapped up by discussing flexibility, the role, Co-Op benefits, and when I'd hear back. I got a call 7 days later. The manager emphasized that personality fit with the team was important and that he wouldn't get along with someone who was frequently absent or took a lot of sick days for childcare.
- What do you know about the company?
- What makes you want to work here?
- Could you introduce yourself?
