Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CME Group.
Manager
I applied online and then a recruiter reached out. After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager, followed by an interview with someone from another team. Finally, I interviewed with the head of the region. It was a long process, but they were really professional throughout. Really professional overall.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- What motivated you to apply for this position?
- Can you share an example of a difficult situation you encountered and how you managed it?
Risk Manager
They gave a good overview of the job and explained the duties well. I wish they had been more accurate matching the job posting to the actual position, because they were looking for someone much more experienced than the posting listed, even for stretch requirements. Overall, I think it's a solid company to work for.
- Would you be okay with working in an environment where most everyone sits in open cubicles?
Manager
I started with an HR call and then got a challenging take-home assignment that needed a detailed analysis and a summary. After submitting it, I went through four interview rounds which went well. HR contacted me after the third round to talk about more details, which was a good sign. But after the fourth round, they just stopped responding. I was asked to wait, but received no updates, and my attempts to get interview feedback were ignored. It was especially disheartening to see HR go from being so responsive and professional initially to completely unreachable by the end. The lack of openness and communication really made the experience frustrating. Given how it all unfolded, I wouldn't apply to this company again.
