First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CME Group.
Business Analyst
I applied online and heard back about a week later for a phone screening. About a month after that, I was invited for an onsite interview with eight people, though I ended up meeting with six. The hiring manager was sick that day. Even though CME is a monopoly, the people I met with seemed like the exchange wasn't doing great, which made sense given the industry's current state. I found out most of their development is outsourced. Two of the six people I met were decent, but the other four were unimpressive, essentially deadweight. I never heard back, which wasn't a surprise. It was the worst interview I've ever had and a complete waste of my time. Other people in the industry have shared similar experiences.
- Can you describe your skills in requirement gathering?
Business Analyst
The first step was a phone call, which is pretty standard for initial interviews. They asked me about my background, my interest in CME, and why I wanted to be a Business Analyst. They also threw in some general questions, like asking what one word my friends would use to describe me.
- Can you tell us about your background?
- What interests you about CME?
- Why are you pursuing a role as a Business Analyst?
Business Analyst
I applied online and then had a phone interview about a month later. Soon after that, I got an Excel task, and then the offer came a week later. It was a pretty straightforward process, and the Excel task just checked if I knew basic pivot table functions and how to do analysis.
- Can you introduce yourself?
