First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CLP Power Hong Kong.
Graduate Trainee Engineer
The interview had 3 rounds. First, an introduction. Second, a technical round about the power system where the interviewer would listen and ask follow-up questions about your response. Third, an HR round about how to deal with problems.
- Tell me about the power system.
- How do you approach problem-solving?
Graduate Trainee
First, there was an aptitude test which was numerical. Then, a written test where we had to write an email for a specific task. After that, a group interview which involved a presentation with groupmates on how to run a business. Finally, a one-on-one interview based on my CV.
- Could you describe your responsibilities in your previous role?
- What were the challenges you faced in your previous project?
- Can you explain the details of that project?
Graduate Trainee
We had an Apt test in a computer room, then a Group Task Force Interview which involved a group discussion and a group presentation, followed by an individual interview at the Power Plant in Lung Kwu Tan. After that, there was a Panel Interview, and an individual interview in a room at the CLP headquarter. It seems like all three stages were designed to screen candidates out. The Panel interview had some technical elements, but the Task Force interview wasn't necessarily technical and felt more like a management trainee interview.
- What are your thoughts on CLP's business operations?
- Could you explain the principles of Thermodynamics?
- What motivates your interest in this particular role and our company?
