The interview process at Cloudera was super organized and a good experience overall. First, a recruiting coordinator reached out to set up a quick 15-minute chat with an internal recruiter. We talked about Cloudera and my background, and she gave me some materials to check out. I really liked how the recruiter felt like they were rooting for me and were super helpful. Then, I had a Google Hangouts interview with a manager for the role. After that, I was scheduled for a 3-on-1 interview with the sales managers at their Austin office. When I got to Austin, the coordinator and recruiter gave me a tour and chatted with me beforehand to make me feel welcome. The interview itself was pretty standard. One manager seemed really uninterested, was on their phone the whole time, and even left partway through. They had interviewed me before on Google Hangouts, so maybe they had already gotten what they needed. The recruiter mentioned the managers were impressed and I'd hear back in about a week. When I followed up, the recruiter told me the hiring sales manager had doubts about my 'passion' for the job and they were interviewing others. That Friday, the recruiter texted me to say they chose another candidate. The TL;DR is that Cloudera's interview process was the most organized I've seen, and the recruiters being supportive is great. Candidates should be ready to explain what Cloudera does and show their passion. My only feedback for Cloudera is to call rejected candidates instead of sending a text with a typo; a call or email would have been much more professional. Overall, it's a really impressive company that anyone would be lucky to join!

I had an initial phone chat with the recruiter, Stacey, followed by two Google Hangout interviews that were each about 30-40 minutes. Then, I got to talk with another team member to get a sense of what the day-to-day is like. Everyone was punctual, enthusiastic, and really knew their stuff. They have a really infectious passion for Cloudera, which is cool to see. Stacey Pentland, the recruiter, was great to work with and super quick to respond! All in all, she made it a positive interview experience, and any questions I had were answered right away throughout the whole process.

Behavioral Presentation

I had an initial phone screening with the recruiter, then a 30-min Google Hangout with the manager. After that, I had a 30-minute Google Hangout with three managers. The recruiter then told me she was putting together an offer and I should get it by the end of the day. Later that day, she said she missed a step and I had one more call with the VP of Sales. That call went well and I was told I'd hear back in 2 days. I ended up not hearing anything for weeks, even after emailing and calling. It was disappointing due to the lack of communication and transparency.
