First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cloudera.
Support Engineer
First, a recruiter called me for a brief phone interview where they tested my basic Linux skills and English. Then, I had a personal interview with the manager, who painted a very rosy picture of the company, describing it as a fairytale full of opportunities. Following that, engineers conducted a technical interview focusing on Linux, Hadoop, programming, and other Big Data technologies. They dug deep into the topics until I couldn't answer anymore. They really seemed to put a lot of effort into appearing nice, perhaps too nice. My impression is that they only hire exceptional talents. The whole experience left me with a strange feeling about this company.

Support Engineer
It was a 4 round interview process. First was with the HR head hunter, lasted about 45 minutes. Then there were two technical interviews, each lasting about 1 hour and 45 minutes. These technical interviews focused on your resume, Hadoop, and soft skills related to company values. The final round was with a Director/Manager of Support and also lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Can you walk me through your resume and elaborate on your stated capabilities?
- Be ready to discuss your resume, focusing on Hadoop and your soft skills in relation to our company values.

Support Engineer
The process was slow, but everything went smoothly. The interviews were pleasant. I was flown out to the main office for an all-day interview with a panel of employees. I waited over a week and a half for the results, but was suddenly told via a brief email from the Technical Sourcer that the company decided to move the headcount to another department without them knowing. I was pretty stunned, especially that deep into the process.
- How would you handle delivering bad news or saying no when there isn't a clear reason?
