First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Clinique.
Consultant
I was interviewed by Lynsay in Aberdeen. It was a good experience and went well, but at the end, she mentioned I might be overqualified for the role and suggested I consider an Accountant Manager position that was open. She said she'd call back but never did and didn't answer my calls. While I understand recruiters are busy, it felt unprofessional to be given hope for an offer, even for a better role, and then receive no follow-up.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?

I applied through the Estée Lauder Companies website. After submitting my online application, I got an email right away for a digital interview, which I had to finish within 5 days. This digital interview was tough. For each question, I had 30 seconds to prepare and then 3 minutes to answer. I only got one shot at each question, so it's important to think about your answers beforehand. About 13 days later, I got an email from the area manager inviting me to a talent day. This talent day includes a numeracy test and a group activity focused on customer service in the first half of the day, followed by some time on the shop floor, including engaging with customers and stopping foot traffic. I was given good notice for the talent day. I haven't received an offer yet since I haven't attended the talent day.
- Can you tell me what days of the week you are available to work?
- What information do you have about the brand?
- What are your working days availability?

Applied via email on Tuesday after seeing a Craigslist post. Got a call back within 2 hours from the Clinique AE who told me to apply via Macysjobs and that she'd forward my info. On Thursday at noon, I got called for an interview at 2 PM the same day. It was super short notice, but I went. Interviewed with the hiring manager, Clinique counter manager, and Sales director all at once for about 30 minutes. Got offered the job on the spot. It's temporary due to the holidays and minimum wage, but will become permanent in February with an increase in hourly rate and commission. Later that afternoon, I got a call to schedule the Talent + phone interview for that same night. It lasted 30 minutes and was very strict, with no emotion, and the interviewer could only repeat questions. Training starts Wednesday.
