First, I talked with HR, then the hiring manager, and finally had an in-person interview at their NYC office. Everyone I met was really nice and patient, and they took their time to explain the job really well.

3 interviews total, first with HR, then the hiring manager, and finally the GM. The HR interview was basic and straightforward. The manager interview involved discussing past experiences in detail. The GM interview was about selling yourself and proving you're the right fit for the role.

I found the job posting on the Clinique website and applied online. I quickly received an email to do a video interview where I had a few minutes to think about and record my answers to given questions. About two weeks later, I met with the Clinique area manager in a cafe for a brief 10-minute interview that focused on sales promotion. The following week, I was called in for a store approval interview at the Boots store where the Clinique counter is located. This interview lasted about 30 minutes, felt like a casual chat, and focused on meeting sales goals and how my past experiences fit the role. I was essentially offered the job then, and the area manager called the following Monday to confirm I got the job.

The interview process for a Clinique Counter Manager was a bit intense. First, you apply online with Macy's, and then you might get an email the next day to set up an in-person interview with them. This interview would ideally be with the sales manager of the department you'd be working in, but it's not guaranteed. After that, they'll let you know if they're interested. If they are, you might have another interview with the same manager, or they could move you to an online interview with a brand called TalentPlus. This TalentPlus interview takes about twenty to thirty minutes and is designed to assess your strengths in selling cosmetics. If you pass TalentPlus, you'll then interview with the brand's district manager. They'll inquire about your qualifications, your performance in the TalentPlus interview, and generally gauge your suitability for the counter and the companies. Both the TalentPlus and district manager interviews are quite demanding but can be really rewarding. Wishing good luck to all applicants.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you share how your strengths, as identified in the TalentPlus interview, have positively impacted your work?
  • Tell me about your qualifications.
  • What was your experience like during the TalentPlus assessment?
