Clearwater Analytics (CWAN) General Intern Interview Questions

I met someone from Clearwater at my school's career fair. They invited me for an on-campus interview the next day. The first interview had two interviewers. They showed me some Java code and asked me to find the errors. Then, they gave me a math word problem about biking uphill and downhill. Finally, they asked me to write a Java method to check if a number is prime. I solved this one reasonably fast. A few weeks later, I had a phone interview. In that interview, I was asked to write two Java methods: one for the nth fibonacci number and another to filter out repeating numbers from an array of ints. I struggled with the fibonacci method due to interview anxiety and took too long. A few days later, I got an email saying they were moving on with other candidates.

I applied online and heard back a week later about scheduling a phone interview. The first phone interview was about basic accounting/financial stuff and my past experience. A week after that, I got invited to an interview at their HQ in Boise. The whole interview lasted an hour and had both technical and behavioral questions. The process was kinda stressful but doable. The interviewers helped me with some financial/accounting concepts I didn't learn in class. The math questions went really well. I think they want people who are fast, flexible, and can handle stress — it's okay to not know something if you can pick it up quickly without getting nervous.

The interview involved a lot of math and logic questions. They really challenged my answers and how I was thinking about them. It was intense, but I'm used to challenging situations from presentations and athletics. I can see how it might intimidate some people, but they're really just trying to test your thought process and see if you can back up your logic.
