Operations Manager
Pretty simple and direct process. Make sure you read the job description and connect your specific skills to it. Do some research on the company and facts about the location you're applying to. Bring these up naturally during the interview. Have an interesting, out-of-the-box question ready for the end. Check the interviewer's LinkedIn to find something in common to discuss.
- What contributions do you believe you can make to our team?
- What is the size of the teams you have previously supervised?
Operations Manager
The interview process can be very lengthy after submitting your application. There were 3 interviews total and roughly 7-10 days apart. Interviews were conducted via video chat. It was frustrating that each interviewer had their preference of video chat that I would have to download and sign up for (ring central, google hangout, Skype). Once extended an offer there is a VERY thorough background check done (obviously... this is an airport security job). In addition to the background check, credit check and driving history check you complete a 5 panel drug screening. And yes you have to test negative for all 5, this is even if you have a compassionate care card or live in a state that cannabis is legalized you still can not test positive for THC. Going through the entire process took me about 2 months.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to give a peer constructive feedback?
- How would you describe yourself as a manager?
- What is your approach to recruiting for a large team?
Supervisor
I was contacted by an HR person from out of state for a phone interview, which went well. They mentioned the local GM would reach out soon for another call and potentially an in-person interview. That call happened about 15-20 minutes later. This brief call led to scheduling an in-person interview for the following week. When I arrived, I waited over an hour. I called the interviewer, who had apparently forgotten, apologized, and we rescheduled a phone interview for later that day. I waited again, but the call never came. The next morning, I texted to try a third time to schedule a phone interview, and we agreed any time after 4 pm would work. After 7 pm, I gave up on this GM and asked to keep my resume on file for other opportunities.
- How would you manage an employee who is not performing well?
