First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ClassDojo.
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 technical rounds. These were all about system design, coding, and product engineering questions. It was pretty standard for senior engineering roles: first a recruiter screen, then multiple tech interviews with engineers. The logistics were fine and communication was organized. But the vibe was kinda off. Interviewers were technically good, but they didn't bother building rapport or making it comfortable before asking questions. They talked a lot about where they used to work (big name tech companies), which felt like bragging rather than actual conversation. Also, all the interviewers were men. When I asked about diversity on the engineering team, they said they had a 'pipeline problem,' which was disappointing and showed they weren't really focused on diversity or inclusion. The interviews felt more like being judged than collaborating, and it wasn't a very welcoming environment. So, it was a tough technical process, but the interview culture felt focused on prestige and lacked diversity and warmth.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out and we agreed that I fit well with the hiring team. They didn't mention the job title or salary, which I found odd. I decided to overlook it because the recruiter was nice and helpful. They sent over an online assessment which I completed and passed all test cases. Then about 20 minutes after submitting, they sent a refusal with no feedback other than the typical "we will not move forward". It was quite strange and a waste of my time.
- A common coding assessment scenario was presented.
Software Engineer
My interview process started with an HR call, followed by a tech screening, and then a 4-person panel. I had some additional meetings afterwards to connect more with the Engineering Manager and learn about the team. The recruiter, Lee, was really helpful and gave me some pointers for the panel interview. The panel interviews were spread out over a few days, which was convenient since I'm currently working full-time. The coding challenges seemed appropriate for an interview, and the engineers I spoke with were easy to chat with.
