Technical System Design

So, first there was a quick phone screen, then a really intense 1-hour technical interview. It was all about system design, microservices, Spring Boot, and that kind of stuff. They threw a bunch of questions at me, some were pretty straightforward, but others were super deep, like they expected me to have memorized a textbook. It felt like my past experience didn't count for much; it was all about recalling specific system design concepts.

Behavioral

It was pretty easy and straightforward. I met the team one by one. There weren't many behavioral questions, it was more conversational. No case studies or homework were involved. The turnaround was relatively quick. The HR reps were communicative, though a bit disorganized as I was contacted by multiple people during the process.

Technical Coding

The recruiter reached out about a contract-to-hire position. The pay was low, but I went ahead. The interview had two people, a tech lead and a senior engineer. They seemed to be testing me rather than trying to see what I could do, which made me lose interest pretty fast. One guy didn't even show his face on video and might be overemployed since he has no LinkedIn profile.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a lengthy interview process. It started with the HR recruiter, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. Then, two weeks later, there was a third interview with a panel of four people. Another two weeks went by, and I had what I thought was the final interview with the hiring manager and the VP. Over the next week, I had three more meetings/interviews/discussions with another VP, a phone call with the first VP, and then an interview with the hiring manager and both VPs. I told the HR rep I got another offer and was worried about more interviews since I was told a previous one was final. She said they were preparing their offer before the last two meetings and that the second-to-last was just a meet and greet. I felt like they were unsure about me, if I was a good fit, or were having second thoughts, even though I was very qualified. This cautious approach and another offer made me choose, and I declined the late offer from MultiPlan. Most people I talked to were nice and it seemed like a good opportunity.
