Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen).
Audit Intern
Even though I didn't have any accounting experience, the interview process was surprisingly easy! It started with a 30-minute Teams call with the recruiter. A couple of weeks later, I had an hour-long interview with two directors. They were very approachable and asked pretty standard questions about my past experiences and skills, nothing too technical. The entire process took about a month.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a challenging interaction with a coworker or client, and explain how you resolved it?
Audit Associate
I had a terrible experience with the recruiter. After connecting with some employees at a virtual FICPA event and applying, a recruiter reached out to schedule. I provided my availability, but then waited with no response. I followed up, needing to plan, but heard nothing. A week later, she emailed to schedule for the next day, when I was unavailable. I responded immediately with an alternative, but she didn't reply and called the next day. She gave a long list of excuses for not checking her email, which was odd. She promised to read my email and reschedule, but two weeks have passed with no contact. I've accepted another offer and am very put off by the company.
- What is your availability?
Assurance Associate
So you have an on-campus interview first, and if that goes well, you'll come into the office to meet with three people. After that, there's an informal lunch with staff, which is super fun and laid back. It's a good chance for you to ask all those questions you might not ask in a formal interview. It's not a trick or anything, just meant to help you figure out if the company is a good fit for you.
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
- What makes you want to work here?
- What are your good and bad points?
