Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City of Ottawa.
Software Engineer
It was a couple of people, the supervisor and an engineer, who asked me mostly situational questions. They were taking notes of everything I said, so there were some awkward silences while they were writing.
- Tell me about a time you took the initiative.
Senior Developer
The people were nice, but there seemed to be a big difference between management and worker roles. It feels like a political place, at least in IT.
- Questions about situations
- Technical questions
Software Engineer
It was a group interview with 7 other people where we did group activities and presentations. Three people were evaluating the group. There was also an individual quiz on knowledge at the end.
- Can you bring something in that you are proud of?
