First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at City of Houston.
Customer Service Representative
The first interview was a group setting with 3 interviewers. They asked general questions and wanted in-depth, specific answers. Questions focused on how past experience relates to the position, problem-solving skills, and interoffice relationships, with requests for specific examples for each. They didn't provide feedback or cues about their opinions, and there was no downtime between the scripted questions.
- What is the most critical trait for a customer service employee to exhibit?
Customer Service Representative
I sent in my application on the website, and about a month and a half later, I got a call back. The interview itself had three people on it, and they each took turns asking me a question. In total, they asked me 10 questions.
- Could you share an instance of a workplace conflict with a colleague and describe it?
- How would you describe your attendance record?
- What steps do you take to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations?
Customer Service Representative
I had to go to the court house for the interview and pay for parking. The info booth didn't know I was coming, so I had to wait in the cashier line for a bit. Finally, a supervisor was called, and the interview started. It was about 20 minutes long, with 3 interviewers against me. They were disorganized and intimidating, and seemed to twist my words. I'm not sure I'll get the job.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging customer.
