First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Citizens.
Investment Banking Analyst
I had a 30-minute interview with two analysts. It included a mix of behavioral and basic technical questions, along with a question about current events or deals. The technical part covered basics like DCF and how depreciation affects the three financial statements.
- Could you discuss a deal you've been following in the news recently?
Investment Banking Analyst
It was a pretty standard process. They hit you with some basic technical questions, some behavioral stuff, and asked about your motivations. It included questions like why you want to work here, why you're interested in IBD, a general 'tell me about yourself,' and then some technicals on DCF, WACC, cost of equity, cost of debt, the Fed's interest rate, and your choice to pursue finance.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Why are you interested in Investment Banking Division (IBD)?
- What makes you want to work for this specific firm?
M&A Analyst
The interview process kicks off with a video call, typically with an associate or senior analyst. Expect some behavioral questions and a few technical accounting/finance queries relevant to investment banking. The final round, the SuperDay, involves about 6-7 interviews covering behavioral, technical, and critical-thinking topics. To ace it, be ready to share your background, explain technical concepts, and build rapport with the interviewers.
- Tell me about your interest in investment banking and M&A.
- Why are you interested in joining Citizens?
- What motivates you?
