First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Citizens.
Data Engineer Intern
I had a video online assessment with a few questions, followed by a coding test that had multiple choice and coding problems. It wasn't too difficult and was pretty direct. Unfortunately, I was rejected after the coding interview.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Data Engineer
I applied for the Data Engineering role and at first, I had to do a HireVue. It had 7 questions that were behavioral and then at the end, there was a fun IQ/Pattern Recognition test. After that, I got invited to do a HackerRank OA. This consisted of one SQL question, one Leetcode question, and some multiple-choice questions about software engineering topics like data structures and APIs. I was told I'd hear back about the next steps by a specific date, but that date has passed by three weeks and I still haven't heard anything. Despite that, it was a good process overall.
- Could you write a complex SQL query?
- Can you explain different kinds of Joins and Aggregate functions?
Data Engineer
The interview process started with a recruiter screening, followed by a 30-minute brief technical interview where I was asked about my experience and some behavioral questions. Then, there was a 1-hour technical interview with 3 interviewers, covering topics like APIs, YAML, Python, PySpark, Snowflake, and SCDs.
- Can you discuss API design?
- Can you discuss your experience with YAML files?
- Can you discuss your experience with PySpark?
