I was emailed to set up a phone interview. It lasted about 30 minutes, where I basically went over my background and answered some really basic questions about my past work and how I'd adjust to this role. A day or two later, I found out they wanted to proceed to an in-person interview. I met with the same HR person and two department heads at their office about a week after that. This interview was around 45 minutes, and we mostly talked about my prior sales and cold-calling experience and my views on each. The whole process was quick, taking about 2-3 weeks from application to job offer notification.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Started with a recruiter call that went well. Then had a phone screen with the head of development, which also seemed positive. They asked some logic and basic programming questions to check my thinking. After those calls, I was invited for a face-to-face interview with the development team manager. During this meeting, I had to review some code they provided and answer more general interview questions. This meeting also went well, and I thought I would get hired. As we were leaving, the manager suggested I meet the owner, implying it was a good sign for final approval. That's when things got a bit strange. The owner wanted to chat and asked if I programmed in high school. I said yes, mentioning Basic and digital logic from Milwaukee Tech. I found this question odd since I've been out of high school for a while and am now in a Master's program, having completed the equivalent of undergrad prerequisites and several grad courses. He then asked about my courses and programming experience. I mentioned a couple with 'programming' in the title but clarified most of my courses involved significant programming due to my software development track. Despite this, he concluded I hadn't had much programming in school, which contradicted what I said. This was surprising as the job only required sophomore-level coursework, and I was well beyond that as a grad student. He also asked if I played an instrument, which I initially thought was just small talk. When I said I played piano, he started taking notes and asking about other instruments. I didn't get the job and was disappointed, but looking back, the owner's questions were so weird that I might have dodged a bullet.

after applying online they called me and i set up a Phone interview, next day they called me for a one on one interview, called me following two days and offered me and i took the poistion. easy process nothing to really be to scared about but once again it is a job interview so who isn't nervous for that. easy to talk to and the interviewer has been with the company for a long time and speaks very highly of the organization, like wise anyone in her position would. overall experience was pretty easy, nothing really to worry about

Behavioral Coding

It was a pretty standard coding interview. Started with some questions to get to know me, then we went through some code and I wrote some basic code. The interviewers were super nice and okay with me writing code in Java instead of VB.NET. The vibe was really relaxed and I think it went well. TIP: They seemed to really like that I wore a suit even though the company dress code is casual.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
  • How confident are you with VB.NET?
  • How confident are you with using Visual Studio?
