My experience with Cipher was pretty rough, honestly. The process was way too long and they didn't even have a proper space for candidates, which was awkward. They asked a lot of the same questions, and frankly, I felt like they were testing my knowledge in healthcare in a really boring way. With four interviews total, it felt like a huge waste of my time and theirs. It was also annoying that random employees interviewed me, and I had to wait around for 2 hours total. To make things worse, half the interviewers didn't even know what the job was about, and the office space was a mess, leaving a really bad impression. However, I have to say, most of the interviewers were actually really nice, smart, and talented. My HR contact was also super friendly and always replied to my emails quickly. Even though the process was long and tough, I was rejected in the end, which I was happy about because I got an offer from a major health system in NYC. My advice is to fix your hiring process and respect people's time. Half the interviewers seemed distracted and weren't really focused on me. It would have been better if I had a quiet room for the interviews, which I don't think is too much to ask. There were even interruptions, like this one lady who was supposed to meet someone but they weren't there and didn't let her know. She was really mad. It was pretty unprofessional, and I shouldn't have had to deal with all that drama. I've seen other reviews with similar stories, so it's not just me. Also, some people at Cipher should be more humble. Yeah, you've won awards, but you're still a small player in a big market. Stay humble. Honestly, don't waste your time here; there are better companies where you can learn from experienced people, not just folks who are only a few years older than you.

I applied through their website and got a response a few weeks later. The process involved some back and forth. The first round was a phone screen with a recruiter. The second round was a phone interview with a team member. The third round was an in-person onsite interview with a few team members. The fourth round was a presentation. While going through all the interview rounds was a bit tedious, it provided a good sense of the company culture. I was interviewing with healthcare tech startups, and Cipher had the best culture I'd ever encountered. It was surprisingly easy to like the people there; everyone was friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic. I disagree with a previous review that suggested Cipher wasted time on its interview rounds. It seems to me that Cipher is very thorough in ensuring a candidate is a good cultural and mission fit. It's a startup, so it might not be perfect, but I don't think it's messy; it's just a typical startup environment.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was really slow. I had 2 rounds of phone interviews, and then I was invited for an in-office visit. There were 4 interviewers lined up, but I kept seeing the recruiter going up to the designated person and tapping their shoulder to indicate I was ready for my interviewer, only to be kept waiting because they were caught in the middle of something. I was also shuffled around to different areas of the office because pods kept taking the place for a group meeting. I spent so much unnecessary time waiting for my interviewers and being relocated to another part of the office. The in-office visit left a bad impression.
