Technical Account Manager
I spoke with a recruiter who said the whole thing would take about 2.5-3 weeks, and I ended up doing four rounds. The first three rounds were with the hiring manager, then a panel of two customer success managers, and finally one of the directors of customer success. These first three went super fast, then it was dead silent for 2.5 weeks. I hit up the HR coordinator who said I'd hear back in 5 days, but 10 days later, still nothing. I followed up again, and finally got a generic email from the recruiter saying it wasn't a mutual fit. Which is fine, but moving me through three rounds and then ghosting me for 2.5 weeks before sending a canned response was pretty frustrating. Seems like a disorganized and unprofessional company, so maybe it's for the best it didn't work out.

Product Specialist
Applied online for the NYC office and the process took 3+ months. The recruiter reached out a month after I applied. Had a phone call/screening with the recruiter, 3 video interviews after and finally an in-person interview with 5 more team members. The final interview also consisted of a technical challenge where you’re given a case study to analyze and present your recommendations on a solution. After the in-person interview, the recruiter went radio silent. I reached out on several occasions and never heard back. Highly unprofessional for a company to go radio silent after having candidate who was willing to stick to the long process. Although I understand they have a long process to make sure they have the right fit, but at least show some respect to people who have given their time away from their current job/taking PTO to send an email or follow-up that they are not a fit. Agree with the other reviewers that this was a huge waste of time especially since it sounds common that they blatantly stop communication when they see fit. Also to note, the office is a huge mess. No AC and the place looks super dingy and run down. Their front door to the office doesn’t even open.

Client Improvement Manager
I applied on the website and heard back about a week later for a phone interview. The next week I had an in-person interview that was about 2 hours long with four interviewers. Three were 1:1, and one was with two current employees. Most interviewers asked me to introduce myself, and it seemed like few had read my resume. The interviews were stimulating and no two interviewers asked the same questions, except for my intro. It was hard to make the interview conversational in a half hour, but they seemed invested in me. I disagree with reviews calling the environment messy; it's a startup that recently expanded, so it's understandable. My interviews were in an open space with a nearby group meeting and people working behind me. The employees were respectful and some even introduced themselves. I didn't get an offer to proceed to more 1:1 interviews and a presentation, but it was a pleasant experience.

Account Strategist
I applied through their website and got a response a few weeks later. The process involved some back and forth. The first round was a phone screen with a recruiter. The second round was a phone interview with a team member. The third round was an in-person onsite interview with a few team members. The fourth round was a presentation. While going through all the interview rounds was a bit tedious, it provided a good sense of the company culture. I was interviewing with healthcare tech startups, and Cipher had the best culture I'd ever encountered. It was surprisingly easy to like the people there; everyone was friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic. I disagree with a previous review that suggested Cipher wasted time on its interview rounds. It seems to me that Cipher is very thorough in ensuring a candidate is a good cultural and mission fit. It's a startup, so it might not be perfect, but I don't think it's messy; it's just a typical startup environment.
