About 3 weeks after applying online, I got a call on a Sunday evening to see if I could come in for a group interview. The group interview lasted about 2 hours with around 30 people. We had to introduce ourselves and share our favorite movie, do a movie quiz, and then split into smaller groups to come up with a movie idea based on prompt cards and pitch it. Afterward, we had to write our availability down. Two days later, I was invited for a 1-2-1 interview where I needed to bring ID. This interview included a 1.5 hour unpaid trial shift which wasn't mentioned before, making the whole thing 2 hours. I spent about an hour in my own clothes serving customers. When I asked how much longer, the supervisor seemed surprised and asked if I had somewhere to be and if I could stay longer as rush hour was starting. The 'interview' ended 20 minutes later. I was told I'd hear back the next day but never did. They were also vague about the contract hours and hiring numbers, just saying I was in the top 15 out of 400.

It was a group interview with really easy questions. We did some team building activities and had to move around to different groups to see how we interact with new people. We started with icebreakers and then moved on to situational questions. The main thing is to not be arrogant but to talk about every activity. You should also volunteer to answer the group questions.

I applied on the Cineworld website and got a call back the next day for an on-site assessment. It turned out to be a group assessment, which I wasn't expecting. The interview started with the manager asking everyone their name, favorite movie, why they want to work at Cineworld, and a bucket list item. Then, we got a booklet with customer service and math questions. After that, the manager split us into groups of three to come up with a movie and present it to her. I found this part a bit challenging as I'm not very sociable, but I knew I had to speak up. We then filled out a paper about our availability, and that was it. I got a call the next day offering me the job! For the interview, wear smart-casual clothes, be ready for customer service questions, brush up on basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages), and be prepared to speak up. The next step involves bringing in your passport and NI number for an induction day to complete paperwork.
