Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cinemark.
Assistant Manager
I was an internal candidate from another store. My GM recommended me to the other GM, and I called the next day to schedule an interview. The GM was vague about the time, so I just showed up at noon. He wasn't in yet, so his SAM got him. They both interviewed me, and it went well. They said they'd get back to me in 4 weeks. I left and told my GM how it went, and he followed up. I emailed the GM a thank you and waited. It's been 7 weeks and still no call. I called him after his own deadline, and he promised an answer by the following Tuesday. He never called back.
- Do you have any hidden talents?
- In your opinion, what does it take to be a manager?
- What is the most challenging part of your typical workday?
Assistant Manager
The hiring process can differ from one location to another, depending on who's conducting the interview. Cinemark is on the hunt for outgoing folks. Being able to hold a conversation and being someone enjoyable to chat with is key. Be interesting! They often ask about your favorite movie. It's not really about the movie choice itself, but how enthusiastic you are when you talk about it. While a suit and tie aren't mandatory, make sure you don't underdress. Forget torn jeans and a hoodie if you want to make a good impression.
- Can you describe a past conflict with someone and how you resolved it?
- Tell me about your favorite movie and what makes you enthusiastic to discuss it.
Management Assistant
They were nice. I enjoyed their presence and felt comfortable speaking with them. The dark knight returns is a brilliant film. It really is.
- Can you describe yourself using fewer than five words?
