Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CICC.
Research Assistant
The process was pretty straightforward: they kept asking about the DCF model, and probed into my previous research logic and data rationale to get a sense of my investment logic. There were also some typical behavioral questions thrown in.
- Could you start by introducing yourself, covering your academic background and previous experiences?
- Could you walk me through the logic and data rationale behind your past research?
- What is your investment logic?
Research
The interview process started with a non-leader group discussion moderated by HR. Since no one spoke first, I took the initiative and was selected for the next stage. This was followed by a written exam, then an interview with a researcher, and finally an interview with a leader, possibly an MD. They mentioned it's not a gap internship, but I declined the offer because I heard people often get fired in previous years when the market was bad.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- What is your opinion on the IPO price?
Research
The whole interview process felt like a case interview. They had me pick an industry and then asked a lot of questions about it. My interviewer was really nice though, and explained anything I didn't know. I think he spoke more than I did. Just be yourself and ask questions when you're confused.
- How would you handle a situation where your boyfriend disapproves of your job?
