Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ciber.
Consultant
There were two Skype interviews. First, a "social" interview with HR. Then, a technical interview with a system developer. No programming questions were asked, just questions about school projects, master thesis, what I liked to work with, programming skills, strengths, and weaknesses. Two references were also needed.
- Tell me about your school projects.
- Tell me about your master thesis.
- What do you like to work with?
Senior Consultant
Got hounded by a recruiter. Had a phone interview with someone on the go in an airport, hard to understand. Second interview had rambling scenario questions. Then they asked 'How soon can you start?' before giving an offer with an immediate start requirement (next day). I mentioned needing two weeks. The offer required starting the next day and traveling to a client city immediately, with all travel costs upfront. Benefits, like insurance, wouldn't kick in for 30-90 days. The pay was the only reason to take the job.
- What career sacrifices have you made?
- Can you start work tomorrow?
- You absolutely must start tomorrow!
Consultant
The interview was in the CIBER office in downtown Chicago. There were two rounds. In the first round, the manager asked questions about my past work experiences and education, checking for basic knowledge gained from school. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for a consultant. In the second round, the manager, who was the Infor/Lawson M3 senior practice manager, asked questions related to basic ERP knowledge. He was impressed when I discussed people management and client management skills.
- Make sure to have good interpersonal and communication skills.
