Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was easy and went well, although the interview was a good distance away. I arrived early and was acknowledged quickly. The interview was pretty basic with no really tough questions. I talked about my previous work experience and details of what my past jobs required. They asked why I left my previous employers and I gave truthful answers. They asked a lot of questions which were easy to answer. After the interview, I was taken around the store and introduced to some associates, which was nice. During the store tour, the interviewer asked some questions and I responded with answers. When the store tour ended, I was told I would hear back in a few days, and I did. I was informed that the job was mine and I accepted the offer over the phone. I started training the following week. The only issue I had was the store was just over 50 miles from my home. I did finish my training in two weeks and was assigned a store closer to home.

The interview process included a phone interview with an HR manager. She was very upbeat and nice. The interview covered typical questions like why I want to work for the Christmas Tree Shop and my retail experience. She then discussed how the Christmas Tree Shop starts all management at the same level as department managers, and they move up from there.

I applied online and then got called in to interview with the district manager who would be at the store that day. When I got there, the store manager met me and took me to the office. They told me the district manager was still busy with something in the Harmon department and would be with me shortly. I knew the district manager was likely in the health and beauty department because I'd interviewed with Bed Bath and Beyond years ago, and BB&B is the parent company of Christmas Tree Shops.
