Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Choice Hotels.
Intern
The interview process was a bit mixed, starting on campus and then moving to a phone interview. It was kind of reversed from what I expected, I thought the second interview would be in person. I guess they had some scheduling issues and had to fit me in over the phone. The questions were pretty standard, mostly asking about my background, past projects, and group work experience, and always asking for examples.
- Tell me about yourself and what you have done.
- What do you want to learn from choice?
Intern
I initially met with the company at a university career fair and that led to an interview. The first interview was mainly behavioral questions with HR. The second interview was on-site and involved more technical questions. Neither interview was particularly difficult, and the questions asked weren't unexpected. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual. Just a note: this was for the IT headquarters in Phoenix, and I've heard the Rockville location is more formal.
- Can you tell me about your experience with SQL?
Intern
I applied online and within a couple weeks, I was called for an interview. I sat down with the most lovely human resources manager and my potential manager. I was nervous but they started off with "don't be nervous this is going to be a very quick and informal interview." They were supportive to me knowing I was still young and in college.
- Why did you choose Choice?
- What areas are you hoping to gain knowledge in during this internship?
