First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CHOC Children's.
Clinical Associate
It was a group interview. We were divided into groups and had different sections. One section was a skills portion where they wanted to see how we'd handle conflict between a parent and patient. Another section was an assessment where they quizzed our knowledge. The actual interview was set up like 'speed dating' where we met with hiring staff from different units.

RN Care Manager
The interview process had 3 parts: preliminary, panel interview, and provider interview. It all happened virtually. The preliminary interview was basically a resume screen. The panel interview was with managers and leaders, and was the main one with situational and behavioral questions using examples. The provider interview was with the department's provider(s) and someone currently in the role, explaining the day-to-day. This interview felt more relaxed, like a vibe check. The whole thing took about 3-4 weeks. The talent acquisition rep was great at communicating timelines and next steps.

Biostatistician
I went through three interviews. First, I spoke with the director about why I was interested in the company and my general experience and skills. Then, I had a more behavioral interview that was like a vibe check with the team. Finally, I presented my research to everyone and answered some questions afterward, which weren't too difficult. They gave me enough time to get ready for the presentation.

Registered Nurse
The interview process was incredibly unprofessional and disorganized from start to finish. It began with a brief 20-30 minute call with HR, followed by a 40-minute interview with four team members via Microsoft Teams two weeks later. After that, there was complete silence for four weeks—no updates, no communication, just radio silence. Then, out of nowhere, I received a voicemail saying they wanted to schedule a "second interview" and were still interested in me for the position. At that point, it felt like I was already in my third interview. I chose not to respond, as the four-week delay without any explanation seemed completely unprofessional. Two days later, they sent an email saying they had selected another candidate—but that the job posting was now reopened. It seemed like they were trying to retaliate because I did not answer. The whole experience made it clear that the department didn’t seem to know what they were doing. There was a total lack of communication and coordination, which reflected poorly on their internal processes. It was frustrating and gave the impression that they were either disorganized or simply didn’t care about treating candidates professionally. That kind of environment is not one I’m willing to work in. Also During the interview they were more than 10 minutes late.
